Zombies.....

I've been really enjoying watching the Walking Dead lately, I think because of which I had the inkling to go back to my 2D roots and put together a little zombie animation.

Enjoy, and remember... aim for the head, it's the only way to kill them

Crayolas

I was going through some old folders and found some color work that I did in the past. I did the line work on the first one, but not on the last two,I enjoyed the heck out of working on all of them and felt like sharing!

Enjoy!

Happy Monday!

Howdy Internet blogeteers!

Would like to share some stuff that I am working on. This is somewhat of a pet project that I am doing intended for an iphone app. I'm at the initial stages of design right now, but I feel pretty strong about the project. I don't want to divulge into what the game would entail, but I would like to share some art work to show what the look is going to be.

Keep an eye out for some updates in the near future!

Bringing it back!

Been a few weeks since I posted last! So sorry to those that check in on my blog to see new stuff. It's been busy lately... lot's of fun exciting stuff that I am really looking forward to sharing in good time.

In the mean time, I thought I would show some of my character work. This is a fun piece that I did to get into the "children's book" feel.

Enjoy!

The Butterfly Garden

About 2 years ago I started scripting a short film that would eventually be titled "The Butterfly Garden". Personally I thought it would only take 8 months at the most. Boy was I wrong.

This actually turned out to be an outstanding learning experience. I've been wanting to creating a short film of my own for about as long as I've been enticed by the medium of animation. Tackling the obstacles that go into telling your own story have been a real eye opener. I have the utmost respect for people that specialize in areas that used to be completely foreign to me, such as environment artist, lighters, and editors.

I have full intent on creating a blog to show the "making of" portion of this film. As well as show some of the original ideas of what this short was intended to be.

But for now, please enjoy!

Game Industry Career Guide.

Recently I contributed a few thoughts for a text book entitled "The Game Industry Career Guide".

To be honest I was completely blown over when they asked me to be apart of this. When I was in school I think I read every book I could find with any insight on how to get a job in the industry. I'm honored to be able to contribute.

I still cannot shake this feeling of irony though. I'm pretty sure that there is going to be some student out there that is going to draw an eye patch, or horns on my picture. Much like I did when I was sitting through lectures in school. Just shows that things go in full circle I suppose.

And a close up.

Happy Holidays to everyone!

The gloves are coming off!

I've grown to really enjoying the process of creating animation tests. It's a great time to explore ideas creatively, while not being tied down to a specific style or story sequence. It's refreshing to experiment with random ideas to see how things turn out. For the good or bad.

This was a test I created at work during some down time. I wanted to animate super hero's doing cool super hero powers. However I did not want to use any type of heavy effects in the process. I think I am attracted to those types of hero characters in comics and movies. The ones that don't shoot laser beams, telekinesis or some other form of kinetic energy they manipulate. It just seems as if the power that they are using becomes the attention, and they are simply the vessel that it is channeled through.

Ok... Enough of the geek speak.

Enjoy!

The Butterfly Garden

I've been working on a short film for almost 2 years now. Glad to say that I am FINALLY working on the final render look. It really has been an interesting adventure working on everything starting from story, all the way to final render. This was the first time I ever attempted to work on environment modeling, texturing, or cloth sim, I really came away with a solid appreciation for what goes into it. That stuff is HARD!

Here's a screen shot to show to show off what the final look will be.

And here is the film with completed animation, enjoy!

And another one

I had an absolute blast animating the avatar character I posted last week, which is why I jumped at the chance when they asked me to do another one!

One of the most enjoyable aspects of working with these characters is the creative freedom to animate almost anything I want. In both cases I was given a prop to work with and was told "make something cool". Of course I had to stay within the style created for these characters, but outside of that it was free reign. In this case I was handed a boom box prop to coincide with the release of Band Hero. Naturally the only thing I could think of was to have the Avatar break dance. This prop and animation is available today on the Xbox marketplace.

Enjoy~

Geeetar Heroics!

A few weeks ago I had the awesome opportunity to animate a guitar hero prop for the Xbox 360 avatar market place. I really like the fun design of these characters, they have a great sense of charm and fun. I had a blast animating him.

They came from OUTER SPACE!!!!!

I created a short little animation for Nickelodean's "15 second of fame".

Enjoy!

And here's some concept sketches I put together to get the feel of the robot's design.

and so it begins. (again)

I've dabbled in the blog world briefly in the past. What started as being a platform for where I could display my work and news slowly but surely became a forgotten and ignored chore that hung over my head.

So in an effort to jump back into the conception of displaying my art, I created a new blog. This way I am starting fresh and do not have to be reminded that my last blog entry was of my Christmas card from last year.

To start things off, I FINALLY got my copy of the Spain edition of Rolling Stone magazine with a screen shot of my work from GH Metallica on the cover!!! I'm pretty stoked about it, I even made my Mom frame the copy I gave her. LOL

More to come in the future!
